Biography

My beautiful wife Ruth and I live 10 minutes outside of Orangeville, a small but vibrant and growing city in Ontario Canada. Nestled in the midst of Hockley Valley, a part of the Niagara Escarpment, it provides us endless beauty to enjoy and we thank God for it. I was probably 3 or 4 years old when I started drawing on anything I could find, walls usually, a pleasure for me but not so much for my Mom. After cleaning wall after wall of crayon (murals I would say), instead of becoming upset my Mom and Dad provided me with paper and pencils a great art book and tons of encouragement.
I graduated from Sheridan College's Illustration course in 1984, Brampton campus. I met lots of talented people there but because it was such an intense and demanding course only a fraction of us graduated 3 years later. Here I must say that the only reason I made it through that course and continue to work in the graphic communication industry today is because of the grace of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. I do not claim any ability as my own but given me from above and I hope to honour that gift by doing the very best work I can in graphic design, marketing, illustration and portraiture, for His glory.
I have worked in all aspects of marketing communications and from very large corporations to quite small and have learned many things and am grateful for that experience and am happy to provide my expertise in graphic design, marketing, print management and illustration at a very reasonable rate.
Sincerely,
Jim Thompson
